Sultry, soulful, and piercing is the blueprint for Genesis' voice. "Music can mend the broken heart, uplift the contrite spirit, and stir the stagnated soul," responds Genesis when asked why she loved music. "I want nothing more than to tap into that very power - the ability to penetrate the heart of listeners across the world."

Genesis became a solo artist after several years as a background vocalist. She was featured on Abram Staten & All4Christ which led to the release of her first song, Free To Be Me, in 2012. Her debut EP, From My Heart To Yours, was released in 2014 followed by her soul-stirring ballad, Seasons, in 2016 which were both produced by Bruce Robinson Jr.

Genesis was undoubtedly beginning to make her mark in the Gospel community sharing the stage with LeAndria Johnson, James Fortune, Jekalyn Carr, LeJeune Thompson, Big Redd, Erica Cumbo, and many more. Genesis was on the move. After much prayer and introspection, she re-branded in 2017 and launched herself full throttle into the secular arena as a R&B artist. She emphatically states, "I'm HOME!"

After asking what we should expect next from her, Genesis responds, "Greatness! I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know...that He has begun a {great} work in me and the performance is going to be spectacular. Watch and see!"

In a world where truth is highly sought after, but rarely told or embraced, Genesis has made it her mission to motivate, inspire, encourage, uplift, empower, and heal people of all ages, backgrounds, gender, races, etc. not just through music but with her life.

Genesis is CEO/Founder of the MISSunderstood Mentor-Protege program which provides  a rich and rewarding experience for both mentor and protege to get, give, and grow. MISSunderstood was established to promote a culture of support, growth, and development for young ladies 13-21 by utilizing open communication and dialogue to foster and provide success, innovation and creativity.

Genesis obviously has a soft spot for young people and women. She is also CEO/Founder of a safe space and support group for women called thePINKroom designed to be a place where every 'she' can BE - uninhibited, unrestricted, transparent, and free, It is purposed to speak to every women holistically.

Genesis believes that hiding, disguising, and silencing your truths only entangles, binds, and cripples those who are desperate for saving, healing, uplifting, and empowering truths that just might be yours. So, she lives with no fear in respect to what people "know" about her, but how they grow as a result of what she's had to face and experience.

Unwavering in her faith, when asked what message she wants to give to her audience, she replied: "Honestly, I do not have time to pretend that what is isn't. I do not have it all together. I refuse to act like life and my entire journey has not thrown me some doozies. But, what I do embrace...what I will always display is the fight in me... It is a literal battle every day to constantly rise above the broken person I, sometimes, want to wallow and be and strive to be the whole person I need to be - for me and for those I come in contact with. I said all that to say this, and I hope I'm not rambling, but it's not my job to make people 'get it,' only that they see how real God is by way of the paths I've travelled, the wins I take, the triumphs I experience."

Genesis' influence has reached church arenas, schools, conferences, social media, radio, etc. and she continues to "press toward the mark." With no overall target audience, Genesis says, "I don't have a target audience. I don't care what age, race, political background, lifestyle, religion, creed - I just aspire to inspire. That's it. That's all. I am determined to leave this earth empty, taking none of this 'potential' with me. Kendrick Lamar said it best, 'Do your thing, continue to rock it, because obviously God wants you here' And baby, I'm HERE!"
